The Verbal Arts Centre teamed up with Art Take Part to celebrate ‘the Big Draw’ during the Halloween celebrations this year. Halloween means MONSTERS and we invited…
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Summer Scheme takes place from Monday, August 10th until Friday, August 14th, from 9.30am-2.30pm, for children aged four to 10 years-old.
Mary Duddy Fitzpatrick, Little Legends Project Co-ordinator for Schools, said the summer scheme was devised to tie in with the city’s Year of Science 2015.
The young participants will get to experience drama, art and storytelling with an exhibition of their artwork on display in the Verbal Arts Centre at the end of the week.
Mary said: “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is one of my all-time favourite movies. I don’t believe many children have seen the film nowadays; it is probably shown once a year at Christmas time.
“There is so much within the story to capture children’s imaginations but it is intergenerational as well. We will be exploring lots of characterisation through Mr Potts, the inventor of the Flying Car; Truly Scrumptious, daughter of the sweet factory owner; the Toymaker; and the King of the Land.
“There are kings, queens, princesses and singing music boxes so the children really get to play and explore. They won’t have time to think of the outside world that week, they’ll all be singing within their own music box!”
There are just a few places left on the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Summer Scheme, which costs £40 per week per child, with lunch included.
