The Minister viewed our innovative City of Culture legacy
funded project during a visit to the Verbal Arts Centre where she met staff, volunteers and participants from the Reading Rooms groups.
Praising the initiative, she said: “The Reading Rooms bus is an excellent example of how funding from my Department is helping to deliver schemes that are bringing the arts to everyone, regardless of their background.
“The bus enables people, particularly those from marginalised
communities, to engage with literature and the arts while building
friendships and confidence, in turn boosting overall mental well-being. I
commend everyone at the Centre on what is a successful and trailblazing
The Verbal Arts Centre was one of several arts projects across the North West visited by the Minister.
Minister Ní Chuilín also received a tour of The Playhouse Theatre in Derry as well as visiting the recently opened Celtronic Studios in the city.
In her last visit of the day the Minister received a tour of the film studios at the former Shackleton army barracks in Ballykelly.
